Tanning was originally seen as something negative, reserved for those of a lower social class. Only with the advent of the industrial revolution and the subsequent advancement of the service sector did tanning become a positive thing, even becoming synonymous with affluent social status. It was precisely in this climate that the first solariums were born in the late 1970s.
How does a solarium work?
Essentially, the basic principle is similar to that of certain lamps that emit ultraviolet rays. These rays then trigger the skin reaction known as tanning. The technology used to power these lamps is similar to that used for lighting (obviously with different wattages).
Tips for getting the perfect tan!
First, it's important to know that skin completely regenerates after about 28 days, so there's no point in trying to maintain your tan beyond that point. However, with a few tricks, you can maintain a beautiful tan that gives off a very healthy glow. How?
- Performing a thorough and complete skin exfoliation before using the tanning bed will remove dead surface cells. This will ensure greater performance and a brighter complexion.
- Hydrate properly. The greatest enemy of a tan is dehydration, which saps the skin's shine and color, causing it to flake and increasing the visibility of wrinkles. It's therefore essential to have a good moisturizer and a good after-sun lotion that you apply regularly.
